At 22 miles long and 6 miles wide, Santa Cruz is the largest of the eight islands that make up the Channel Islands off the coast of California. The island hosts three mountain ranges, a large central valley, deep canyons, miles of craggy cliffs, giant sea caves, tide pools, and long beaches. Relics found on the island suggest that the Chumash Indian tribe lived on the island for more than 10,000 years.
